tar Wars has had a presence on television that dates back to 1978 with the infamous Holiday Special, which in addition to its myriad atrocities also thankfully introduced the world to Boba Fett in his first onscreen appearance. This tradition lives into the modern era with Star Wars Rebels.

Star Wars: Holiday Special (1978)
Image

It's Life Day on Kashyyyk and Han has to get Chewbacca home with the Empire close behind. Featuring most of the New Hope cast, several celebrity guest, and a cartoon segment that includes the first official tv/movie appearance of Boba Fett.

November 17, 1978: Happy Birthday Boba Fett
Image
The special is renown for its terrible pacing, cheesy performances, and ridiculous plot. The special also included several prominent guest appearances, including Jefferson Starship.

Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure (1984)
Image

After the Towani family crash lands on Endor the two children, Mace and Cindel, get separated from their parents. While the kids are found by Ewoks Deej and Wicket, their parents are taken prisoner by the terrible Gorax. Mace and Cindel must work with their new Ewok friends to save their parents. Caravan of Courage is the first of two made for television Ewok movies.

Ewoks: The Battle for Endor (1985)
Image

The second Ewok movie follows Cindel Towani as she must join the Ewoks after her family is attacked and possibly killed by a group of marauders. Cindel and the Ewoks must work to defeat the marauders' leader, Charal, and fix the Towani's ship so Cindel can leave Endor.

Star Wars: Ewoks (1985-86)
Image

Star Wars' first animated series, Ewoks focuses on the adventures of Wicket before the events of Return of the Jedi. The show's plot revolves around conflict with Morag the Tulgah Witch. It is noteworthy for being the only time the Ewoks speak basic.

Star Wars: Droids (1985-86)
Image

Droids follows the story of R2-D2 and C3PO during the years between Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Together, they travel the galaxy and end up going through several masters, each time getting into dangerous situations. The series had 13 episodes and one special.

Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003-05)
Image

The first of the Clone Wars animated stories, Clone Wars aired as micro episodes ranging from 3-15 minutes long. Introducing the new Sith villian, Ventress, the series details the continuing training of Anakin Skywalker by Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TV series) (2008-14)
Image

This show takes place between Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. It depicts the events of the Clone Wars, the name given to the fight between the Republic and the Seperatists. The main focus of the show is a group of clones that alternate their assignments to different Jedi commanders and develop different personalities despite having identical DNA. It also depicts Anakin's decent to the Dark Side and the wide reaching effects of the Clones Wars on the Republic.

Star Wars: Rebels (2014-present)
Image

Star Wars: Rebels takes place five years before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope. It tells the story of a band of rebels during the height of the Empire, including Kanaan, who was a Jedi Padawan at the time Order 66 was enacted. The characters face off against numerous Empire villains, including Darth Vader himself, as they fight to cripple the Empire while hding the Force users among them.

The Star Wars films can be divided into four major categories: the Prequel Trilogy, The Original Trilogy, the Sequel Trilogy, and Anthology films. The Original Trilogy was made first (1977-1983), followed by the Prequel Trilogy (1999-2005), and the Sequel Trilogy (2015-2019), all of which make up the "Episodic Films" with the Anthology Films (so called stand alone or "non-episodic films") being made concurrent with the Sequel Trilogy (2016-)

Image

Prequel Trilogy:

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

'Original' Trilogy:

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope

Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back

Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi

Sequel Trilogy:

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens

Star Wars: Episode VIII

Star Wars: Episode IX

Anthology Films:

Star Wars: Rogue One

Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menance is the first film in the prequel trilogy released in 199. The prequels tell the soty of the fall of the Jedi and the rise of the Empire seen in the original films.

Official Synopsis

Two Jedi Knights escape a hostile blockade to find allies and come across a young boy who may bring balance to the Force, but the long dormant Sith resurface to reclaim their old glory.

Opening Crawl

Turmoil has engulfed the Galactic Republic. The taxation of trade routes to outlying star systems is in dispute.

Hoping to resolve the matter with a blockade of deadly battleships, the greedy Trade Federation has stopped all shipping to the small planet of Naboo.

While the Congress of the Republic endlessly debates this alarming chain of events, the Supreme Chancellor has secretly dispatched two Jedi Knights, the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy, to settle the conflict....

Plot Summary

In response to taxation on trade routes in the Galactic Republic, the Trade Federation organizes a blockade of battleships around the planet Naboo. Supreme Chancellor Valorum dispatches Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi to negotiate with the Trade Federation leadership to end the blockade. Darth Sidious, a Sith Lord and the Trade Federation's secret adviser, orders Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray to kill the Jedi and invade Naboo with an army of battle droids.
Image

The Jedi flee to Naboo, where Qui-Gon saves Gungan outcast Jar Jar Binks from being killed during the invasion. Indebted to the Jedi, Jar Jar leads them to an underwater Gungan city. There the Jedi try but fail to persuade the Gungan leader, Boss Nass, into helping the people of Naboo, though they are able to obtain transportation to Theed, the capital city on the surface. They rescue Queen Amidala, the ruler of the Naboo people, and escape the planet on her royal starship, which is damaged as they pass the Federation blockade.
Image

Amidala's ship is unable to sustain its hyperdrive and lands for repairs on the desert planet Tatooine. Qui-Gon, Jar Jar, astromech droid R2-D2, and Amidala's handmaiden Padmé visit the settlement of Mos Espa to buy new parts at a junk shop. There they meet the shop's owner Watto and his nine-year-old slave Anakin Skywalker, who is a gifted Podracer pilot and engineer, and has created a protocol droid called C-3PO. Qui-Gon senses a strong presence of the Force within Anakin and is convinced that he is the "chosen one" of Jedi prophecy who will bring balance to the Force. Qui-Gon wagers Anakin's freedom with Watto in a Podrace, which Anakin wins. Anakin joins the group to be trained as a Jedi, leaving his mother Shmi behind. En route to their repaired starship, Qui-Gon enters a brief lightsaber duel with Darth Maul, Darth Sidious' Sith apprentice who was sent to capture Amidala.Image

The Jedi escort Amidala to the Republic capital planet Coruscant so she can plead her people's case to Chancellor Valorum in the Galactic Senate. Qui-Gon asks the Jedi Council to train Anakin as a Jedi, but the Council are concerned that Anakin is vulnerable to the dark side of the Force and decline. Undaunted, Qui-Gon vows to train Anakin himself. Meanwhile, Naboo senator Palpatine persuades Amidala to make a vote of no confidence in Valorum to elect a more capable chancellor to resolve the crisis on Naboo. Though she pushes for the vote, Amidala grows frustrated with the corruption in the Senate and decides to return to Naboo with the Jedi.Image

On Naboo, Padmé reveals herself to the Gungans as Queen Amidala and persuades them into an alliance against the Trade Federation. Jar Jar leads his people in a battle against the droid army while Padmé leads the hunt for Gunray in Theed, eventually capturing him and his aide, Rune Haako. In a starship hangar, Anakin enters a vacant starfighter and inadvertently triggers its autopilot, joining the battle against the Federation droid control ship in space. Anakin ventures into the ship and destroys it from within, deactivating the droid army. Meanwhile, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan battle Darth Maul, who mortally wounds Qui-Gon before being bisected by Obi-Wan. As he dies, Qui-Gon asks Obi-Wan to train Anakin. Subsequently, Palpatine is elected as the new Supreme Chancellor and Gunray is formally arrested. The Jedi Council makes Obi-Wan a fully fledged Jedi Knight and reluctantly accepts Anakin as Obi-Wan's apprentice. At a festive ceremony, Padmé presents a gift of appreciation and friendship to the Gungans.

The second film in the prequal trilogy, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones was released in 2002, 3 years after The Phantom MenanceEpisode I - The Phantom Menance. It contiues the story of the fall of the Jedi and the rise of the Empire by focusing on Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

This separatist movement, under the leadership of the mysterious Count Dooku, has made it difficult for the limited number of Jedi Knights to maintain peace and order in the galaxy.

Senator Amidala, the former Queen of Naboo, is returning to the Galactic Senate to vote on the critical issue of creating an ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC to assist the overwhelmed Jedi....

Plot Summary
Image
Ten years after the Trade Federation's invasion of Naboo, the Galactic Republic is threatened by a Separatist movement organized by former Jedi Master Count Dooku. Senator Padmé Amidala comes to Coruscant to vote on a plan to create an army of the Republic to assist the Jedi against this threat. Narrowly avoiding an assassination attempt upon arrival, she is placed under the protection of Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice Anakin Skywalker. The two Jedi thwart another attempt on her life and subdue the assassin, Zam Wesell, a shape-shifter who is killed by her bounty hunter client with a toxic dart before she can reveal his identity. The Jedi Council assigns Obi-Wan to identify and capture the bounty hunter, while Anakin is assigned to escort Padmé back to Naboo, where the two fall in love.
Image
Obi-Wan's investigation leads him to the remote ocean planet Kamino, where he discovers an army of clones is being produced for the Republic, with bounty hunter Jango Fett serving as their genetic template. Obi-Wan deduces Jango to be the bounty hunter he is seeking, and follows him and his clone son Boba to the desert planet Geonosis via a homing beacon placed on their ship, the Slave I. Meanwhile, Anakin becomes troubled by premonitions of his mother Shmi in pain, and travels to Tatooine with Padmé to save her. They meet Owen Lars, Anakin's stepbrother who is the son of Shmi's new husband Cliegg Lars. Cliegg tells Anakin that Shmi was abducted by Tusken Raiders weeks earlier and is most likely dead. Determined to find her, Anakin ventures out and finds the Tusken campsite. He discovers too late that his mother has been tortured by the tribe. As she dies from her wounds, Shmi reunites with Anakin. Anakin kills the Tuskens in his rage and returns to the Lars homestead with Shmi's body. After revealing his deed to Padmé, Anakin says that he wants to prevent death.Image

On Geonosis, Obi-Wan discovers a Separatist gathering led by Count Dooku, who Obi-Wan learns had authorized Padmé's assassination and is developing a new battle droid army together with Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray. Obi-Wan transmits his findings to Anakin to relay to the Jedi Council, but is captured mid-transmission. With knowledge of the clone army, Chancellor Palpatine is voted emergency powers to send the clones into battle. Anakin and Padmé journey to Geonosis to rescue Obi-Wan, but are also captured. The three are sentenced to death, but are eventually saved by a battalion of Jedi and clone troopers led by Mace Windu and Yoda; Jango is killed by Mace during the rescue.
Image
As the clone and droid armies battle, Obi-Wan and Anakin intercept Dooku and the three engage in a lightsaber battle. Dooku wins, injuring Obi-Wan and severing Anakin's right arm, but then Yoda arrives and engages the Count in a duel. Finding he is unable to defeat Yoda, Dooku flees. Arriving at Coruscant, he delivers blueprints for a superweapon to his Sith master, Darth Sidious, who confirms that everything is going well and as planned. As the Jedi gravely acknowledge the beginning of the Clone Wars, Anakin is fitted with a robotic arm and secretly marries Padmé on Naboo, with C-3PO and R2-D2 as their witnesses

Revenge of the Sith is the final onstallment in the Prequal trilogy. It was released in 2005 and concludes the fall of the Jedi and the rise of the Empire as told through the stories of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Initially excited, Anakin begins to have premonitions of Padmé dying in childbirth.Image
Palpatine appoints Anakin to join the Jedi Council as his representative, but the Council declines Anakin the rank of Jedi Master and orders him to monitor the Chancellor, diminishing Anakin's faith in the Jedi. Palpatine entices Anakin with knowledge of the dark side of the Force, including the power to prevent death. When Palpatine reveals himself as the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, Anakin reports his treachery to Mace Windu, who subdues Palpatine in an ensuing lightsaber duel. In a desperate attempt to help save Padmé, Anakin intervenes on Palpatine's behalf, allowing him to kill Mace. Anakin pledges himself to Palpatine, who dubs him Darth Vader.Image
Palpatine issues an order for the clone troopers to kill their Jedi commanders, and dispatches Vader and a legion of clones to kill everyone in the Jedi Temple; however, Obi-Wan (having killed Grievous on Utapau) and Yoda survive. Vader then kills the remaining Separatist leaders hiding on the volcanic planet Mustafar, while Palpatine addresses the Senate and reforms the Republic as the Galactic Empire, declaring himself Emperor. On Coruscant, Obi-Wan and Yoda return to the Jedi Temple to discover Anakin's treachery. Concerned by Obi-Wan's reasoning that Anakin has turned to the dark side, Padmé travels to Mustafar to confront him, while Obi-Wan stows aboard her ship. When Vader discovers Obi-Wan, he accuses Padmé of betrayal and uses the Force to choke her into unconsciousness. Obi-Wan battles and dismembers Vader, who is significantly burned by a volcanic river. Back on Coruscant, Yoda confronts Palpatine, but retreats after their duel reaches a stalemate.Image
Obi-Wan brings Padmé to the asteroid Polis Massa, where she gives birth to twins Luke and Leia before dying. A funeral is held for Padmé on Naboo; meanwhile, Palpatine salvages Vader and brings him back to Coruscant, where his ruined body is repaired with cybernetic limbs and his respiratory suit. Palpatine informs Vader of Padmé's death, devastating him. As the Sith supervise the construction of the Death Star, Obi-Wan and Yoda determine to hide the twins from the Empire. Senator Bail Organa adopts Leia and takes her to Alderaan, while Obi-Wan delivers Luke to his stepfamily Owen and Beru Lars on Tatooine, where Obi-Wan intends to watch over Luke until the time is right to challenge the Empire.Image

Official Synopsis

Luke Skywalker joins forces with a Jedi Knight, a cocky pilot, a wookiee and two droids to save the universe from the Empire's world-destroying battle-station, while also attempting to rescue Princess Leia from the evil Darth Vader.

Opening Crawl

It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire.

During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet.

Pursued by the Empire's sinister agents, Princess Leia races home aboard her starship, custodian of the stolen plans that can save her people and restore freedom to the galaxy....

Plot Summary
A Corellian Corvette named Tantive IV is captured by an Imperial Star Destroyer commanded by Darth Vader. The corvette's diplomat, Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan, is forced to send stolen plans for the planet destroying Death Star down to the nearby planet of Tatooine. Custodians of the plans, R2-D2 and C-3PO are soon sold by Jawas to Owen Lars.

Owen's nephew, Luke Skywalker, discovers Princess Leia's desperate message to Obi-Wan Kenobi within the memory banks of R2-D2. After R2-D2 escapes to deliver his message to Kenobi, Luke and C-3PO give chase. Once reunited, Luke is attacked by Tusken Raiders. Obi-Wan Kenobi thwarts the Tusken Raiders and takes the droids and Luke to his home where he retrieves the full mesage from Leia.
Image

Kenobi gives Luke his fathers lightsaber, invites him to learn the ways of the Force, and asks Luke to go to Alderaan to deliver the plans for the Death Star to the Rebel Alliance.

Initially, Luke declines, but changes his mind after Imperial Stormtroopers murder Owen and Beru Lars in search of the stolen plans.

With R2-D2 and C-3PO in tow, Luke and Obi-Wan travel to Mos Eisley where they secure offworld transport from Han Solo and Chewbacca aboard the Millennium Falcon. Obi-Wan uses a Jedi mind trick to confuse the guards and his lightsaber to stop some cantina ruffians from injuring Luke.

After exchanging blaser fire with Imperial Stormtroopers, Han, Luke, Chewbacca, Kenobi, and the droids take off in the Milllennium Falcon. Quickly evading two Imperial Star Destroyers, Han Solo makes the jump to lightspeed. En route to Alderaan, Kenobi teaches Luke to use the Force to help him block low powered blaster shots from a training droid while not being able to see.

The crew arrives only to find Alderaan destroyed by the Death Star. After following a TIE fighter, the Millennium Falcon gets caught in the tractor beam of the Death Star.

By hiding in secret smuggling compartments, Han and Luke are able to disguise themselves as Stormtroopers. Obi-Wan Kenobi splits from the group in order to disable the tractor beam. While waiting, R2-D2 discovers Princess Leia is being held prisoner.

Luke, Han, and Chewbacca make their way to the detention level by faking a prisoner transfer. A gunfight breaks out once they arrive. Under fire, they rescue Leia, who finds an escape route through the garbage masher after the main exit is cut off. Image

The group makes its way back to the Millennium Falcon. Obi-Wan Kenobi confronts Darth Vader after disabling the tractor beam. The ensuing lightsaber battle distracts the stromtroopers guarding the Falcon, thus allowing Luke, Han, Leia, Chewbacca, and the droids to safely get away.

After destroying pursuing TIE fighters, the Millennium Falcon is able to make the jump to lightspeed and escape to the rebel base on Yavin IV.

There, the Death Star plans are analyzed in order to plan a daring attack.

Tracking the Millennium Falcon to Yavin IV, the Death Star arrives and begins to assume a firing position just as the rebels begin their attack with X-Wing and Y-Wing starfighters. Han Solo had been asked to join the fight, but he declined in order to pay off Jabba the HuttImage
During the Battle of Yavin, the rebels are able to dodge turbolaser fire by utilizing small, one-man fighters. Realizing their strategy, Darth Vader launches his TIE fighter with two escorts and begins shooting down the rebel fighters.

Luke is able to make his attack run after most of Red Squadron is destroyed. During his attack, Darth Vader has Luke in his sights just as Han Solo destroys one of Vader's TIE fighter escorts. The other escort knocks Vader's TIE fighter of course just as Luke launches his proton torpedoes into the exhaust port, thus destroying the Death Star. Image

Opening Crawl

It is a dark time for the Rebellion. Although the Death Star has been destroyed, Imperial troops have driven the Rebel forces from their hidden base and pursued them across the galaxy.

Evading the dreaded Imperial Starfleet, a group of freedom fighters led by Luke Skywalker has established a new secret base on the remote ice world of Hoth.

The evil lord Darth Vader, obsessed with finding young Skywalker, has dispatched thousands of remote probes into the far reaches of space....

Plot Summary

Three years after the destruction of the Death Star, the Rebel Alliance has been driven from their former base on Yavin IV by the Galactic Empire. Princess Leia leads a contingent, which includes Han Solo and Luke Skywalker, in a new base on the icy planet Hoth. Luke goes to investigate a possible meteor impact which turns out to be a probe droid sent by Darth Vader in search of him, but is ambushed by a monstrous, furry wampa. While Han Solo searches for him, Luke frees himself from the wampa's cave with his lightsaber, but soon suffers from the sheer-cold temperatures of the snowy wasteland. The spirit of his late mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, appears before him and instructs him to go to the system Dagobah to train under Jedi Master Yoda. He is then found by Han, who uses the warmth of his dead tauntaun for shelter, and brought back to base to recover.Image

Meanwhile, the Imperial fleet is alerted to the location of the Rebel base by the probe droid and launches an attack using gigantic AT-AT Walkers, capturing the base. Han and Leia escape on the Millenium Falcon with C-3PO and Chewbacca, but their hyperspace drive malfunctions. They hide in an asteroid field, where Han and Leia grow closer. Vader summons several bounty hunters including the notorious Boba Fett to assist in finding the Falcon.

Luke escapes with R2-D2 in his X-wing fighter and crash lands on Dagobah. He meets the diminutive Yoda, who accepts Luke as his pupil after conferring with Obi-Wan's spirit. During Luke's training, Yoda sends him into a cave in which the dark side of the Force has a strong presence. Luke experiences a vision in the cave where he fights Darth Vader and decapitates him. When the false Vader's mask is removed, Luke sees his own face beneath it. While undergoing intensive training, Luke has a premonition of Han and Leia in pain and, against Yoda's wishes, leaves to save his friends.Image

Unknowingly tracked and followed by Fett, Han sets a course for Cloud City, a floating gas mining colony in the skies of the planet Bespin run by Han's old friend, Lando Calrissian. Shortly after they arrive, Lando leads them to a banquet table where they are handed over to Vader and Fett. Over Lando's objections, Vader uses them as bait and tortures Han so he can lure Luke into a trap. Vader also reneges on his agreement with Lando by agreeing to hand Solo over to Fett once Luke arrives. Fett plans to collect a hefty bounty on Solo by delivering him to Jabba the Hutt, the gangster to whom Han is heavily indebted.

Vader intends to hold Luke in suspended animation via carbon freezing, and against Fett's protests, who fears the freezing will kill his prize, selects Han as a test subject for the process. Leia professes her love for Han, after which Han is frozen in a block of carbonite. Solo survives the freezing and Vader hands over his hibernating form to Fett, who intends to leave for Tatooine. Vader then further betrays Lando by demanding that Leia and Chewie are to be taken into his custody instead of remaining on Cloud City. Lando, who is unable to deal with the guilt of what is happening, initiates an escape, freeing Leia and the others. They desperately try to save Han from Fett; however, the group are too late and the bounty hunter is able to load Solo onto his ship and escape. They flee in the Millennium Falcon without Solo.Image

Meanwhile, Luke arrives at Cloud City and falls into Vader's trap. Luke and Vader engage in a lightsaber duel that leads them over the city's central air shaft. Vader severs Luke's right hand, disarming him, and reveals himself to be Luke's father, contrary to Obi-Wan's statement that Vader killed his father. Horrified by this, Luke refuses Vader's offer to rule the galaxy at his side and throws himself down the air shaft. He slides through a tube system and is ejected beneath the floating city, where he grabs onto an antenna. He makes a desperate telepathic plea to Leia, who senses it and persuades Lando to return for him. R2-D2 repairs the Falcon‍ 's hyperdrive, allowing them to escape. Aboard a medical frigate, Luke is fitted with a robotic artificial hand. Lando and Chewbacca set off in the Falcon to find Jabba the Hutt and Boba Fett in an attempt to save Solo. Plot Summary

Luke Skywalker initiates a plan to rescue Han Solo from the crime lord Jabba the Hutt with the help of Princess Leia, Lando Calrissian, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2. Leia infiltrates Jabba's palace on Tatooine disguised as a bounty hunter with Chewbacca as her prisoner. Lando is already there disguised as a guard.

Leia releases Han from his Carbonite prison, but she is captured and enslaved. Luke arrives soon afterward but after a tense standoff, he is captured. After Luke survives his battle with Jabba's Rancor, Jabba sentences him and Han to death by feeding them to the Sarlacc. Luke frees himself and battles Jabba's guards. During the chaos, Boba Fett, who has been working for Jabba since delivering Han, attempts to attack Luke but Han inadvertently knocks him into the Sarlaac pit. Meanwhile, Leia strangles Jabba to death, and Luke destroys Jabba's sail barge as the group escapes.Image

While Han and Leia rendezvous with theRebel Alliance, Luke returns to Dagobah, where he finds that Yoda is dying. As he dies, Yoda confirms that Darth Vader, once known as Anakin Skywalker, is Luke's father and there is "another Skywalker". The spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi confirms that this other Skywalker is Luke's twin sister, Leia. Obi-Wan tells Luke that he must fight Vader again to defeat the Empire.

The Rebel Alliance learns that the Empire has been constructing a new Death Star under the supervision of Vader and his master Emperor Palpatine. In a plan to destroy the new weapon, Han leads a strike team to destroy the battle station's shield generator on the forest moon of Endor, allowing a squadron of starfighters to enter the incomplete infrastructure and destroy the station from within. The strike team, accompanied by Luke, travels to Endor in a stolen Imperial shuttle.Image
On Endor, Luke and his companions encounter a tribe of Ewoks and, after an initial conflict, form a partnership with them. Later, Luke confesses to Leia that she is his sister, Vader is their father, and that he is leaving to confront him. Surrendering to Imperial troops, Luke is brought to Vader and unsuccessfully tries to convince him to turn from the dark side of the Force.

Vader takes Luke to the Death Star to meet Palpatine, intent on turning his son to the dark side. Palpatine reveals that the Death Star is fully operational and set to destroy the Rebellion. On Endor, Han's strike team is captured by Imperial forces, but a surprise counterattack by the Ewoks allows the Rebels to launch an attack. Meanwhile, Lando, piloting the Millenium Falcon, leads the Rebel fleet to the Death Star, only to find that the station's shield is still active and the Imperial fleet is waiting for them.Image
Palpatine tempts Luke to give in to his anger and join the dark side of the Force, and Luke engages Vader in a lightsaber duel. Vader discovers that Luke has a sister, and threatens to turn her to the dark side. Enraged, Luke attacks Vader and severs his father's right hand. Palpatine entreats Luke to kill Vader and take his place, but Luke refuses, declaring himself a Jedi.

On Endor, the strike team defeats the Imperial forces and destroys the shield generator, allowing the Rebel fleet to launch their final assault on the Death Star. At the same time, a furious Palpatine tortures Luke with Force lightning. Unwilling to let his son die, Vader becomes Anakin Skywalker again and kills Palpatine, therefore fulfilling the prophecy that he would be the one to destroy the Sith and restore balance to the force but is mortally wounded in the process. At his father's request, Luke removes Anakin's mask to see his scarred face, allowing Anakin to look on his son with his own eyes before dying in Luke's arms.Image
Lando leads the remaining ships into the station's core and destroys the main reactor as the Imperial fleet is overwhelmed. Luke escapes on an Imperial shuttle with his father's body, while Lando escapes in the Falcon moments before the Death Star explodes. On Endor, Leia reveals to Han that Luke is her brother, and they share a kiss. Luke returns to Endor and cremates his father's armor on a funeral pyre. As the Rebels and the galaxy celebrate the end of the Empire, Luke sees the spirits of Obi-Wan, Yoda, and the redeemed Anakin watching over them.
A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.
